Although he hosted the Oscars this year, Hugh Jackman was not a member of the club at the time. In consequence, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences though this should be changed. So they invited the actor from 'Wolverine' to be part of the honorary body. And he wasn’t the only one. Actors like Anne Hathaway, Michael Cera, James Franco and Oscar-winning 'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle, received the same invitation. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Academy president Sid Ganis declared: "These filmmakers have, over the course of their careers, captured the imagination of audiences around the world. It's this kind of talent and creativity that make up the Academy, and I welcome each of them to our ranks." The Academy gave 134 invitations to members of the film community to be part of the club. One of the privilege the Academy members have is voting rights in the Oscar race.
